Documentary Synopsis: There are over 2.5 million farm workers in the U.S. Many are women, and nearly 1/2 of these women allege that they have been subjected to some form of sexual harassment on the job. The award winning Frontline/PBS/Univision documentary Rape in the Fields discusses the problem and the efforts of the EEOC in partnership with other advocates to address a problem that runs deep and wide. The EEOC's San Francisco District Office brought some of the first sexual harassment cases for farm workers in federal court and Regional Attorney Bill Tamayo will discuss the efforts to make a federal agency relevant and meaningful to a very vulnerable and historically neglected population, and the ongoing challenges.
