DECEMBER: - LUNCH at the OLIVE GARDEN in Stonestown on December 23 will again feture a representative from the SF Firefighter's Toy Program. See description below.

NOVEMBER: - SF FIREFIGHTER'S TOY PROGRAM: For the second year, during our December lunch at the Olive Garden in Stonestown Galleria on December 13th, a representative from the SF Firefighter's Toy Program (a 501(c)(3) non-profit) will speak. Attendees may participate by bringing an unwrapped gift for ages zero to 12 years. Their biggest need is for infants and older girls. Suggested gifts for older children is a gift card (i.e., Target, iTunes, Best Buy, Ross, etc.); or by a money donation (cash or checks made out to "SF Firefighter's Toy Program"). Other suggested gifts: Sports equipment; arts & crafts; baby items; ethnic dolls of all nationalities; stuffed animals; iPods; books; toy trucks. If you donate a game system, please include the game. Toy guns are NOT accepted.

OCTOBER: - YOUR NEWSLETTER: Whether you read the newsletter online or when received in the mail we hope you enjoy it and benefit from its content. The goal is to provide our membership with up-to-date, relevant information pertaining to issues affecting federal employees and retirees. Perhaps you are consistently reading the newsletter online and no longer want a mailed copy; or maybe you are in a multiple member household and want only to receive one copy. In either situation simply email Joe Mangiameli at and your name will be removed from the mailing list.

SEPTEMBER: - Pre-Retirement Seminars: The next pre-retirement seminar with BC/BS, Kaiser, GEHA, SSA, and Medicare representatives will be held on September 14th from 11:00 am to 12:30 pm at the Phillip Burton Federal Building, 450 Golden Gate, San Francisco. Prior registration is not necessary.  The seminars are designed to help you learn how your FEHBP and Medicare work in retirement.

JUNE: - Have you ever gone to the NARFE Website and logged in as a member. If not, I invite you to do so and take a look at the wealth of information available to you. One section titled, "Latest News", contains numerous articles covering a wide range of topics of interest to current employees and retirees alike. The "Legislation" section covers topics of immediate interest to all and makes it easy to send a message to your Congressional representatives expressing your views. Additionally, there is a "Resource Library" and "Special Links" to other Federal Resources. These are just a few of the many topics covered on this site. Why not give it a try at your earliest opportunity?
