EVENTS - 2014

HOLIDAY LUNCHEON - December 10, 2014

Holiday luncheon will be on at Ristorante Ti Piacera, 1507 Polk Street, San Francisco, near California St. Lunch will be served at 1:30pm, social at 1:00 pm in the bar area. Each entrée will be served with a Mista Salad, which includes seasonal mixed greens, tomato and onion, tossed in lemon-herb vinaigrette. Entrees are either Penne al Matricciana with Spicy Italian sausage, red onion, and tomato, in white wine and garlic sauce or Ravioli ai Funghi al Pesto, Portobello stuffed raviolis with pesto, topped with sautéed cherry tomatoes and goat cheese. The luncheon will conclude with coffee and a Biscotti (Italian almond dipping cookie). Other beverages can be purchased individually at the bar. Price for the three-course luncheon, including tax and tip will be $30. Public Transportation: The California Cable Car, the 19 Polk, the 47 and 49 Muni lines all service the area. There are public parking garages and on street metered parking throughout the area. In addition to lunch, we will have the drawing for prizes from our fundraiser as well as our annual holiday gift drawing. Please feel free to bring a donated, wrapped gift to the luncheon.

NARFE 2014 NATIONAL CONVENTION

This year the NARFE National Convention was held in Orlando, FL on August 24-28, 2014. All members were urged to attend.

SPRING LUNCHEON, - March 19, 2014

Our March 19, 2014 our Spring luncheon will be held at Mandarin Villa (101 Oak Street at Franklin). This multi-course family style Chinese meal is only $16 and will begin promptly at 2pm. All members and their gursts are encouraged to attend. Please mail your luncheon reservations to Leslie Ching, 160 Gardenside Drive, #101, San Francisco 94131.  Checks should be made out to NARFE Chapter 65 and sent to Leslie by March 10. Our annual fundraiser raffle drawing will be held at the luncheon.

DISTRICT V TRAINING MEETING

On April 23, 2014 the District V Training Meeting and lunch will be held at the Elks' Club in San Mateo, 229 W. 20th Avenue. Registration at 9:30am with meeting from 10am to 2:30pm. Cost is $27 per person which includes coffee, snacks and lunch. See the flyer and reserve your space by April 14th.

CHAPTER 65 ANNUAL FUND RAISER

The 33rd NARFE National Convention will be held this year in Orlando, FL on August 24-28. All members are encouraged to attend. Chapter 65 will pay your registration fee, however hotel, transportation and other expenses are not covered. Donations to our annual fund raiser are used to offset these expenses for our delegates. You can read more about this and also print the raffle tickets to submit with your donation. To show our appreciation for your generosity, a drawing will be held at our March 19, 2014 Spring Luncheon and prizes will be awarded. You need not be present to win.

March 19, 2014 and October 15, 2014

March and October screenings of documentary film "Rape in the Fields"
On March 19, 2014 there will be a screening of the Frontline/PBS documentary "Rape In The Fields" at noon at 450 Golden Gate Avenue. Click here to see the flyer. If you are unable to attend on this date, Chapter65 will be showing the film at our October 15, 2014 general meeting at 1pm. The documentary examines the EEOC's and other advocates' efforts to fight sexual harassment of farm workers across the United States. The members of our chapter, many of whom are retired DOL, care deeply about the issues presented in this film. EEOC Attorney William Tayamo will introduce the film at our meeting and hold a discussion with a Q & A session afterwards.
